Baltic View, Liverpool
A residential scheme in the heart of Liverpool's Baltic Triangle district. The scheme consists of 129 apartments, associated communal space and a courtyard. It also features 9 office units on the ground and first floors.
The design took its inception from the visual legacy left by the Baltic Quarter from the 18th and early 19th Century and offers a contemporary interpretation, from the vertical extrusions of surrounding warehouse structures, vertical loading bays and irregular rooflines, to the old red brick and steel of their materials, steeped in maritime and industrial history. Positioned between Norfolk and Brick Street, the island formed by the streets around Baltic View is maintained in both form and programme. Modular fenestration is used with the strong vertical elements of brick and curtain wall reflecting the environment, broken with horizontal bands of steel section.
