Lyme Park, Cheshire
Preparation of a restoration plan for the buildings and estate at Lyme Park, Disley near Stockport to improve the setting of the magnificent Grade I Lyme Hall and provide improved facilities for staff and visitors.
The restoration plan was developed to allow the phased implementation of the recommendations over a long term period, with each phase of work contributing towards the overall strategic plan.
The cage has now been majestically restored, the external envelope of the stable block has been refurbished in two separate phases, important landscape and garden details have been restored within the park and access for the visitor has been improved, together with the kennels.
Further phases included the construction of a new estate workshop/warden base with the kennels wood and the re-modelling of the interior of the stable block to provide improved visitor access, ticketing, lavatories, education rooms, restaurant, kitchen and support facilities in line with the restoration plan.
