Favourite Building in the world and why
The Tate Modern, London UK. Herzog De Meuron Despite having the entire World to choose from, my favourite building to date is the The Tate Modern in London. To me it represents the perfect example of a re-use project that emphasises and plays off the existing qualities of a building to create a completely unique experience for anyone visiting. Couple this with great exhibitions like Danish artist Olafur Eliasson’s ‘The Weather Project’ in 2004 and you really do have an awe-inspiring building.
Favourite Building in Liverpool and why:
The Bluecoat, Liverpool One. Hans van der Heijden Architect). For me the renovation and extension of the Bluecoat School (a Grade 1 Listed building and Liverpool’s oldest) for the Liverpool One masterplan is my stand out project and building in Liverpool. I think it has that elusive perfect balance between old and new and the secluded courtyard is the perfect place for a quiet coffee break away from the hustle and bustle of Liverpool One.
